About Me

Bio and Artist Statement

As early into my life as I can remember, I was always fascinated by film. Whether it be live action movies, cartoons, or a mixture of the two, film provided an intrigue that no other medium could match. From an early age I understood this concept, so as soon as I could I began teaching myself what makes films what they are. I started with my family's home video camera filming what I saw and commentating over it, giving my childhood self's perspective on the world around me. And while I also remember my dad getting mad at me for using up all the film and recording over older tapes, I had just taken the first step towards understanding what film truly was.

When it came time to transfer to high school, I made an effort to join the Audio/Video Production class they offered. Here I would hone my skills in editing programs, learning Adobe Premiere on the school computers and Sony Vegas 11 on my home computer. I made all sorts of videos ranging from funny edits to short films and all these projects allowed me to practice the workflow and creative process of what it would take to make films later on in life.

From there I continued to forge my path as a filmmaker transferring to community college to study Radio and Television Broadcasting where I was able to let my creativity flow with every project I made. Here I learned how to manage time, evolve my workflow, and practice all sorts of skills including writing, editing, and directing my first collaborative short film with my peers.

Obtaining my Associates, I the transferred to University where I evolved my workflow and collaboration with others even further. It was here where I finally learned the professional workflow of the industry and how to collaborate on a larger scale. The experience is on going and is something I would not trade for anything else. With the projects I've had the opportunity to make, the connections I've been able to establish, film school has broken my personal boundaries and allowed myself for improvement like no other field has.

My work has always been something I can be proud of, I am never satisfied with a project halfheartedly made. It can be a double edged sword at times, but I always strive to be ambitious and break from the path of normality. It is not an easy task, but then again what sort of job is out there that is? I'm always up for a challenge and no matter what happens,  I understand that this is the process towards evolving as a filmmaker and no amount of pessimism will stop the creativity and perspective I know I can bring to the world.
